- UM Graduate Programs: if you are interested in graduate studies at UM look here
- UM Libraries: if you are looking for articles from your syllabus or projects search here or a specific database
- Aurora: here you will find tuition fees, student records, class registration
- Manitoba Centre for Nursing Health Research (MCNHR): works to create an environment that promotes and supports nursing research
- GradSteps Workshops: the Faculty of Graduate Studies puts on some fantastic workshops (e.g., writing a literature review, starting and writing your first research proposal, writing process and establishing a writing routine)
- Academic Learning Center: great tutors for help with paper writing, free of charge, you can book ONLINE for virtual or email feedback

- Citation Machine: if your reference manager is unable to provide a citation you can try here
- FigShare: repository for all research, even if unpublished. Helpful to see what other research has been done in your area but hasn’t been accepted for publication
- Academia Edu: access some publications for free
- Google Scholar: can access some publications for free
- Sigma Theta Tau International: the local chapter of the international honor society, STTI promotes excellence in scholarship and nursing leadership
- Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Special Interest Group of Manitoba: this group meets a few times annually to provide support and mentorship to the CNS's in Manitoba, all students interested in CNS position welcome to attend
- Nurse Practitioner Association of Manitoba (NPAM): the voice of Manitoban NPs
Helpful Applications, Programs, & Extensions
- Microsoft Office: free for students on the UM website
- Grammarly: free version of app that helps with grammar and spelling in many word processors, browser extension and desktop app
- Reference manager (zotero and mendeley are popular): organize all your research in one place, creates citations and reference lists, integrates to browser and word processor
- Zotero connector: once installed in browser you can click the button while viewing the article and it will synch with your desktop zotero
- ZotFile: zotero plugin to help manage attachments, adds highlights and annotations to PDFs
- Lean Library: browser extension that automatically checks for UM library access of the article you are looking at
- Microsoft Teams (MST): the GNSA and its subcommittees use MST to communicate, login with your UM email to connect to MST account
- Zoom: frequently used video conferencing app, used for GNSA meetings and meetings with faculty & peers, connects to UM email
- Evernote: popular note taking and productivity desktop and phone app
- Mentimeter: a great way to include audience participation in your presentations, use your student email to gain access to UM sponsored account
- Canva: this site is fantastic to use to create stylish graphics, presentations, and posters
